Trip House -- 2004    [ New trip house ] [ Old trip house ] [ Construction ] [ Interior Views ]

The old trip house was consumed by a fire in late November 2003. The cause of the fire was the electric heater in the work shop which was on during the first way-below-zero night of the winter. The workshop is heated and used year-round. The building contained the trip house, work shop, garage, storage, and counselor's retreat.

The former building was designed and constructed in 1983 by Bruce Endres, with assistance from CJ Endres and Shawn Ambrose-Jones.

After the file only the deck and stairs remained.

Old timers will recall the first trip house, shown here with a load of laundry bags. Many canoe trips were packed out of here, ending in 1983.

Old-old timers will recall that this was originally a wash house.

The old trip house is still in use, shown here with minor modifications including a covered deck. It is now called the Rendezvous and is the program office.
